Wella - Smoothfiller Demi-Permanent Keratin Smoothing Treatment

For context: I have fine, curly hair with around 50% highlights. This treatment is safe for me at 180°C with 6-8 passes for thermal activation. I’ve previously tried both permanent straightening and keratin. They worked well, but were a lot of fuss, so I was excited to try this one. Overall, it does work, if you consistently blow dry and style your hair after each wash. Even just a blow dry (without straighteners) leaves hair noticeably smoother, neater, more manageable, and the effect fades gradually. However, what puts me off is the smell. It’s true that there’s no noticeable odour when the treatment is freshly applied. But every time you wash your hair after or sweat even briefly at night, you get a broccoli-like smell, which is definitely not flattering. I’m currently on wash 7 (I wash every 2 days and double shampoo due to an oily scalp), and it’s still there. If you’re going on a beach holiday, be prepared smelling like a pond every time you go for a swim. I’m still undecided on whether I would use it again. As someone who struggles with extreme frizz in the UK climate and has tried virtually everything, I am genuinely happy with the smoothing results you get with styling. But there are quite a few drawbacks, especially for clients who don’t style their hair often and who will absolutely notice and dislike the smell.
